X-ray Installed at Critical Control Points
The Challenge
When Unilever Canada embraced some changes in their 100,000-square foot factory at Rexdale, the company not only brought new processes and capabilities to the plant, but also took the opportunity to take their food safety program to the next level and comply with the FSSC—Food Safety System Certification. Unrivaled contamination detection capabilities in packages with foil seals and inline quality checks such as weight and fill level inspection were a couple of reasons why Unilever Canada trusted in the Eagle Product Inspection x-ray technology to ensure the highest quality excellence of its mayonnaise and margarine products.
The Solution
Three x-ray inspection machines were installed at critical control points along its production line. The Eagle™ Pack 320 PRO to inspect for foreign bodies and individually weigh the margarine tubs as well as an Eagle™ Tall PRO X and Eagle™ Tall PRO XS to inspect for foreign matter, verify total package weight and check for correct fill levels on the mayonnaise lines.
“Eagle x-ray machines not only do an excellent job of looking for and pinpointing any foreign matter, but also have the ability to verify the weight of the product which is extremely useful for us.” Mr. Galen Sienicki (Rexdale Factory Director), Unilever Canada
