Detection of Contaminants in High-Volume
The Challenge
Higos El Pajarero specializes in producing high quality dried figs for various parts of Europe. Due to the nature of fig harvesting, they were discovering that stones, which were almost identical to the size and color of the figs, along with metal pieces, were mixing with the harvested crop and posing a large problem for the company. Despite their best efforts at visual inspection, many kilograms of stone contaminants were still ending up in the final product.
The Solution
By installing the Eagle™ Bulk 415 PRO, Higos El Pajarero was able to detect and reject physical contaminants in high-volume, loose-flow product much easier than before and with greater accuracy. The bulk x-ray inspection system currently inspects 15,000 kg of dried figs and due to the machine’s unique cupped belt design promotes a uniform flow of product while reducing product loss and spillage.
Material Discrimination X-ray (MDX) technology further enhances the bulk food inspection process by enabling the Bulk 415 PRO to detect metal contaminants and stones within bundles of figs that have complex density levels which usually make contamination detection difficult for traditional x-ray equipment.
