Meat and Poultry
Superior inspection and multitasking capabilities for meat and poultry products – from bone detection to clip or void detection in meat chubs.
Eagle x-ray machines can simultaneously perform critical quality control checks at high line speeds with accuracy and precision ensuring quality assurance in the food industry. Eagle x-ray inspection machines are powered by SimulTask PRO image analysis software and can check fill level in upright containers, measure mass in packaged products, count components in multi-compartment boxes, locate voids in burger patties, identify broken or damaged product and even find food particles trapped in seals – all in a single pass for optimal food inspection and advanced quality control of food.
Eagle’s systems have an auto-learn function whereby an acceptable weight pack is passed through the x-ray machine and an ‘acceptable tolerance’ is established that can be used to compare all future products against. If the calculated mass falls within a programmed tolerance, the package is good, but if it deviates, the package will be rejected. This is ideal for product inspection on high-speed lines where traditional inline weighing systems may not be practical and when manufacturers can’t accommodate separate food contamination detection and checkweighing devices due to space limitations.
Fill level inspection is a crucial quality control issue for food, beverage and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Maintaining a product’s correct fill level is a constant challenge with overfills and underfills having a significant impact on customer satisfaction as well as a company’s bottom line.
An Eagle x-ray inspection system allows manufacturers to set maximum and minimum fill levels and reject any product that falls outside the range. Fill levels can also be adjusted by adding an optional feedback to the filling machine, which is especially beneficial for staged products like cans of potato chips, liquid foods such as yogurt drinks, or loose products like milk powder.
Counting components of food with x-ray technology is much quicker and far more reliable than other inspection methods. An Eagle system is capable of looking inside sealed packaging to check that all components are present, something that can’t be done by cameras or the human eye. Our x-ray machines confirm the presence of a cap or lid. If the cap is missing, the cap area appears brighter on the x-ray image and the product will be rejected from the production line. Common applications include counting salad kit components, needles and syringes in a box, checking for the locking lever in an asthma inhaler, counting chocolate bars in a box and more.
Product integrity is a vital quality control issue for food and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Identifying and rejecting deformed packages or products from production is essential to customer satisfaction and brand reputation. X-ray inspection technology is capable of identifying broken cookies in packages, misshaped burger patties in boxes, rejecting dented cans from high speed lines and much more. Find out how our advanced software can help streamline your quality assurance program with demonstrable traceability and real-time image analysis.
Package integrity is a vital quality control issue for food and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Not only is it essential to identify and reject deformed packages, but it is also critically important that seals remain airtight to ensure the sterility of pharmaceutical products and freshness of food products. Seals can be easily compromised by stray particles of product, physical contaminants or misplaced product. Anything trapped within the seal of a ready meal or cheese packet, for example, could end in product spoilage. Eagle x-ray inspection systems are capable of identifying particles as small as 1 mm caught in seal areas and rejecting these compromised products from the production line.
For products that are presented in defined compartments, such as a box of chocolates or a ready meal with more than one compartment, mass measurement can provide results for each individual zone/compartment. X-ray software simultaneously checks the overall mass of the pack and that of each compartment. Additionally, the x-ray software produces a complete report, including relevant statistics on the production run and individual rejected items for contaminants, total mass and mass for each zone.
