September, 2016 – Eagle Product Inspection (Eagle), an expert provider of advanced x-ray product inspection systems across multiple global industries – from meat and poultry to dairy, snack foods and bakery – have partnered with French company Elcowa, in Mulhouse, in order to make its full range of technologies available to the French market. Food safety is among the highest priorities for French manufacturers, therefore product inspection systems have a vital role to play. The French Directorate General for Food (DGAL) is responsible for food safety in the country, and spends in the region of 350 million Euros per year on food safety inspections alone,[1] highlighting the emphasis that is placed on this area.
The partnership between the two companies will open up a wealth of advanced systems and software solutions to French manufacturers, including dual energy Material Discrimination X-Ray (MDX) – which uses technology pioneered in the security sector to discriminate materials by their chemical composition, enabling detection of historically undetectable inorganic contaminants. In addition, software packages such as SimulTask™ PRO and TraceServer™ offer enhanced reporting, monitoring and data management capabilities, ensuring customers can operate product inspection systems at the peak of their performance on production lines.
Elcowa, an expert product inspection and re-inspection company based in the East of France, has been operating for over 50 years in the country and in surrounding European countries (particularly for re-inspection). The company has a team of employees in sales and service all over France, and in Morocco though its sister company, and has further expanded its capacities in order to be more efficient in its partnership with Eagle. Elcowa has equipped many manufacturers with metal detection and inspection systems over a period of many years and the collaboration with Eagle in France will see it build significantly on its x-ray inspection business. July has already seen the first order for Eagle equipment signed between Elcowa and a major biscuit manufacturer in France.
